[Disseminated cryptococcosis resulting in fungal septic shock: a case report]

Abstract:
Fungal sepsis and septic shock are syndromes involving acute organ dysfunction that result from a dysregulated host response to invasive fungal infections. These syndromes are characterized by diagnostic challenges, rapid progression, complex management, high medical costs, and high mortality, particularly among immunocompromised patients. This article mainly presents a case of fungal septic shock caused by disseminated Cryptococcosis, which resulted in death within a short period. It emphasizes the importance of the principle of "early warning and rapid intervention" in clinical practice for fungal sepsis. Additionally, it suggests the integration of fungal biomarkers into sepsis scoring systems as a crucial step towards the rapid identification and precise treatment of fungal sepsis.
