The Patatin-like phospholipase domain 3 (PNPLA3) CG/GG genotype is linked to increased hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recurrence after liver resection, particularly late recurrence. Progressive fibrosis exacerbates this risk, suggesting PNPLA3 genotyping for surveillance.
