Choroidal metastases (CM) can be managed with multimodal salvage strategies, integrating systemic therapy and radiation, for prolonged survival even after immunotherapy failure. This approach offers hope beyond palliative intent for selected patients with limited metastatic sites.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Ophthalmology
- Medical Imaging
Background:
- Choroidal metastases (CM) are rare but significant manifestations of systemic cancers, often from lung cancer.
- Current evidence for managing CM, especially with modern immunotherapies, is limited.
- Most prior case reports predate current treatment modalities like immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Epithelial-to-Mesenchymal Transition
The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition or EMT is a developmental process commonly observed in wound healing, embryogenesis, and cancer metastasis. EMT is induced by transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) or receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) ligands, which further...
Testing a Claim about Mean: Unknown Population SD
Estimating a population mean requires the samples to be approximately normally distributed. The data should be collected from the randomly selected samples having no sampling bias. There is no specific requirement for sample size. But if the sample size is less than 30, and we don't know the population standard deviation, a different approach is used;...
