  • Responses were compared with those of adult GI residents and junior residents.

  • Pediatric endoscopists had significantly lower understanding (median VAS 47) and confidence (median VAS 0) in endoscopic hemostasis compared to adult GI residents.
  • SBT demonstrated high effectiveness in skill enhancement for pediatric endoscopists (median score 94.5), with no significant difference compared to adult and junior residents.
  • All participating pediatric endoscopists expressed a strong interest in repeated SBT sessions.

Conclusions:

  • Pediatric endoscopists harbor significant concerns regarding their competence in endoscopic hemostasis.
  • Simplified SBT programs utilizing a novel simulator show promise for improving pediatric endoscopists' skills and confidence.
