Long distally unlocked intramedullary nails (LUIMNs) significantly reduced operative times and peri-implant fracture risk compared to short distally locked intramedullary nails (SLIMNs) in peritrochanteric hip fracture treatment. LUIMNs may be a preferred option for reducing future fracture risks.
