Endometrial actinomycosis: a treatable cause of postmenopausal bleeding

Postmenopausal bleeding (PMB) raises significant concern in women, as it may signal early uterine malignancy. Consequently, all episodes of PMB require thorough investigation. Approximately 60-80% of cases are linked to atrophic endometrium, with about 10% each attributable to endometrial hyperplasia and carcinoma. However, one case involved a woman with PMB, where no definitive cause was identified beyond a forgotten intrauterine contraceptive device. Further evaluation revealed a rare uterine infection as the underlying cause of the PMB.
