Leg length discrepancy (LLD) affects nearly half of patients with lower extremity cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita (CMTC). Early orthopedic evaluation is recommended for timely management of LLD in these children.

Background:

  • Cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita (CMTC) is a rare congenital vascular disorder.
  • Lower extremity involvement in CMTC can be associated with orthopedic complications.
  • Leg length discrepancy (LLD) is a potential complication requiring assessment.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the frequency of LLD in patients with lower extremity CMTC.
  • To describe associated clinical findings in these patients.
  • To characterize the management strategies for LLD in this cohort.

  • Retrospective chart review of patients with lower extremity CMTC evaluated by orthopedics.
  • LLD assessment via orthopedic examination and/or radiographic imaging.
  • Kaplan-Meier analysis to estimate the cumulative risk of major LLD by age 15.
