Abstract:
Five marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) entities are recognized and delineated in the 2022 WHO and ICC classifications: (i) extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (LZME), also known as mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma; (ii) nodal marginal zone lymphoma (NMZL); (iii) splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL); (iv) pediatric nodal marginal zone lymphoma (PNMZL); and (v) primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma/lymphoproliferative disorder (PC-MZL). Although certain morphological, immunophenotypic, and genetic features are shared among the different subtypes, each entity displays distinct characteristics. This review focuses on the newly delineated cutaneous and pediatric entities, as well as recent molecular data that may help in the diagnosis of MZL.
