Abstract:
•Participants reported slight positive attitudes towards toward clinical trials.•Participants had concerns about safety, benefits, and how to access trials.•Lower socioeconomic groups had lower trust and were less willing to participate.•Messages tailored to rural values and language can improve trial engagement.•Early communication on safety and barriers can boost rural trial engagement.
