Objective: To investigate and analyze the current situation and relationship between sickness presenteeism with disease, occupational stress, fatigue cumulative and work functioning impairment in nurses. Methods: In June 2023, totally 1061 clinical nurses from 4 cities in Henan Province and Fujian Province were enrolled by the method of stratified cluster sampling and tested by questionnaires including Sickness Presenteeism Questionnaire, Core Occupational Stress Scale, Self-diagnosis Questionnaire for Workers' Fatigue Accumulation, Work Functioning Impairment Scale. The relation of sickness presenteeism, occupational stress, fatigue accumulation on work functioning impairment was analyzed by Bootstrap. Results: Sickness presenteeism, occupational stress and fatigue accumulation scores were (4.7±1.9) points, (46.0±11.0) points and (17.0±12.5) points. Work functioning impairment scores was (12.3±5.6) points, >21.0 scores' nurse was 84 (7.9%). Bootstrap test showed that sickness presenteeism scores positively affected work functioning impairment scores (β=0.15, 95% CI: 0.09-0.20). Sickness presenteeism scores affected work functioning impairment scores through the single mediating role of occupational stress scores (β=0.07, 95% CI: 0.04-0.10), the single mediating role of fatigue accumulation scores (β=0.20, 95%CI: 0.16-0.24), and the chain mediating role of occupational stress and fatigue accumulation scores (β=0.12, 95% CI: 0.10-0.15) . Conclusion: Work functioning impairment was fairly common in clinical nurses. Sickness presenteeism not only positively affects work functioning impairment, but also can affect work functioning impairment by occupational stress and fatigue accumulation in nurses.
