Abstract:
Nitrogen, an inert gas, is widely used in industrial applications to prevent oxidation, corrosion, and explosions. However, it poses a risk of asphyxiation in enclosed or poorly ventilated environments. This article reports a case of acute nitrogen poisoning in a confined space. The patient was working inside a large-diameter pipeline when an unexpected leak in the connected nitrogen supply pipeline occurred, resulting in excessive inhalation of nitrogen and subsequent asphyxiation. The patient recovered after active treatment. Enterprises should enhance occupational safety and health training to raise workers' awareness of protective measures. Workers performing tasks in confined spaces must strictly adhere to operational protocols and implement proper safety precautions.
