Objective:
To develop and test an instrument for performing osteotomy and a technique for minimally invasive endoscopic instrumental correction of the external nose.
Material And Methods:
A curved chisel with integrated suction was developed for minimally invasive endoscopic osteotomy. In a prospective study, 43 patients with PTND underwent surgery. Evaluated parameters included: operation duration, edema/hematoma dynamics (VAS), and restoration of nasal breathing (3 weeks, 3 months, 1 year postoperatively).
Results:
Median operation duration was 29.0 (Q1-Q3: 27.5-45.5) min. The intensity of postoperative edema and hematomas on the VAS significantly decreased from 5.0 to 2.0 points between days 5 and 14 (p<0.001). Normal nasal breathing was recorded in 86% of patients 1 year post-surgery (versus 86% with severe impairment preoperatively; p<0.001). 90.7% of patients reported satisfaction with outcomes one year after surgery.
Conclusion:
The developed instrument (suction-integrated chisel) and surgical technique ensure short operation time, minimization of postoperative complications, and sustainable functional-aesthetic restoration.
