Background:

  • The German Uro-Oncologists (d-uo) established the National Prostate Cancer Registry (ProNAT) in 2022.
  • ProNAT aims to provide a real-world, cross-sector overview of prostate cancer management in Germany.
  • It builds upon the VERSUS study, collecting longitudinal data on quality of care, guideline adherence, and therapeutic strategies.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To establish the first comprehensive real-world dataset on outpatient prostate cancer care in Germany.
  • To analyze quality of care, guideline adherence, and therapeutic strategies in prostate cancer management.
  • To identify areas for improvement in prostate cancer patient care.

Main Methods:

  • A non-interventional, prospective, multicenter registry (DRKS00030737) including patients from 55 urology centers.
  • Data collection includes demographics, clinical parameters, tumor stage, treatment modality, comorbidities, and psycho-oncological support.
  • As of August 2025, 3,417 patients were enrolled (analyzable n = 3,052).

Main Results:

  • Most patients (91.1%) had ECOG 0-1 performance status.
  • Metastatic disease at diagnosis was present in 6.7%; 77.6% had T1-T2 tumors.
  • Robot-assisted surgery was used in 87.7% of curative cases, while only 18.2% received documented psycho-oncological support.

Conclusions:

  • ProNAT provides valuable real-world data on German prostate cancer care.
  • Findings indicate progress in diagnostic guideline adherence.
  • Significant under-utilization of psycho-oncological services and multidisciplinary planning requires attention.
