Summary
Parotid pleomorphic adenomas (PPA) extending to the parapharyngeal space (PPS) require careful diagnosis and surgical management. A transcervical transparotid approach effectively removed the tumor while preserving facial nerve function.
Area of Science:
- Head and Neck Surgery
- Oncology
- Neurosurgery
Background:
- Parapharyngeal space (PPS) tumors are rare, comprising 0.5%-1% of head and neck neoplasms.
- Parotid pleomorphic adenomas (PPA) extending into the PPS present diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to their deep location.
