Cochlear implants (CIs) are a transformative technology that can restore hearing in patients with severe to profound hearing loss. This article highlights the significance of imaging techniques at various stages of cochlear implant (CI) procedures, emphasising key factors that assist in minimising surgical risks. It also provides a comprehensive review of potential complications associated with CI placement. Radiological assessment is crucial in the preoperative phase for optimal candidate selection and proper surgical planning. During the procedure, the correct positioning of the electrodes is typically verified through neural response telemetry; however, imaging techniques may be necessary in some cases. Finally, in the immediate or late postoperative period, radiological evaluation is very useful for assessing both minor and major complications.
