Abstract:
Preserved ratio impaired spirometry(PRISm) is a pulmonary function pattern characterized by a normal forced expiratory volume in one second to forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC) ratio, but a reduced FEV1. It is often considered an early or preclinical stage of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Recent studies have demonstrated a strong association between PRISm and cardiovascular disease (CVD), with significantly increased risks of CVD comorbidity and mortality. This review synthesizes the clinical features of PRISm, its association with CVD, and potential shared pathophysiological mechanisms. Additionally, it summarizes current strategies for risk identification and clinical management. Current research on PRISm and its associated cardiovascular diseases is still limited, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced multidisciplinary collaboration and mechanistic investigations to inform the development of early interventions and personalized management strategies.

COPD: Pathogenesis and Clinical Features
The primary cause for the onset of COPD is cigarette smoking and exposure to air pollution. These hazardous factors initiate a chain reaction within the lungs, resulting in chronic inflammation, damage to the airways, and a...

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease-I: Introduction
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Smoking is a primary risk factor for COPD, with over 80% of patients having a history of it. Patients typically experience progressive dyspnea or labored breathing, frequent coughing, and recurrent pulmonary infections. Many eventually succumb to respiratory failure, characterized by...
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease-III: Symptoms and Complications.
Symptoms of COPD can be classified as primary or systemic. Primary symptoms relate to reduced airflow, while systemic or extrapulmonary symptoms relate to COPD's broader impact on the body.
