Abstract:
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are transforming healthcare delivery and disaster management by overcoming logistical barriers and enabling rapid response in challenging environments. Globally, UAVs facilitate the delivery of critical medical supplies, support disaster management through real-time monitoring, and assist in Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threat scenarios, mitigation. Land and water drones expand these capabilities, with unmanned ground vehicles aiding casualty evacuation in conflict zones, such as during the Russia-Ukraine war. In India, initiatives like i-Drone and Medicines from the Sky have demonstrated the potential of drones in reaching remote and underserved areas, enabling timely delivery of vaccines, blood products, and other medical resources. With advancements in AI, swarm technologies, and tailored designs, UAVs are bridging critical gaps in healthcare delivery. As UAVs continue to evolve, they promise to redefine medical logistics and emergency response, ensuring equitable access to healthcare and enhancing resilience in both civilian and military applications.
