Enhanced lasing emission from the improved hybrid structure of silver nanowires and zinc oxide
Abstract:
A hybrid system consisting of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanopowder and silver nanowires (Ag NWs) was investigated for enhanced random lasing emission. Silver nanowires were synthesized using a modified polyol method at 160°C, with a short reaction time of 20 min and without an oil pathway. The synthesized Ag NWs, with a diameter of approximately 47 nm and a length of 2.5 µm, were isolated through centrifugation and combined with ZnO at varying concentrations (0.001-0.008 g). The lasing characteristics were analyzed at different ZnO concentrations to determine the optimal formulation for improved performance. Enhanced lasing characteristics were observed by reducing the ZnO concentrations, with the best lasing threshold of 10mJ/cm2 determined at 0.001 g of ZnO. This research emphasizes the importance of ZnO-Ag NWs hybridization in shaping random lasing behavior, providing valuable insights for future nanophotonic applications.
