  • 571 German women, representative of age and education, participated.
  • Participants were exposed to consensual or rape-themed pornography stimuli.
  • Subjective sexual arousal, rape myth acceptance, prior pornography use, sex drive, K-factor, and menarche onset were assessed.

Main Results:

  • Rape myth acceptance and sex drive significantly predicted sexual arousal.
  • Women with prior exposure to violent pornography showed higher arousal to rape stimuli.
  • Biological-evolutionary factors, except sex drive, were not significant predictors.

Conclusions:

  • Socialization factors, like rape myth acceptance, significantly influence arousal to rape pornography.
  • Findings challenge prior research suggesting a minority of women adopt fast life-history strategies.
  • Further discussion on socialization's role in consuming rape pornography is warranted.
