Abstract:
Minimally invasive nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) continues to evolve beyond aesthetic refinement toward technical precision and reproducibility. Although robotic platforms have expanded instrument articulation and visualization, access to such systems remains variable, and pure endoscopic approaches still face ergonomic challenges and steep learning curves. Our recent multimedia article focuses on standardizing key technical steps in single-port endoscopic NSM and explores how enhanced instrument articulation within a confined operative field may support consistent surgical execution. As minimal-access breast surgery matures, the central challenge shifts from feasibility to scalability: defining reproducible techniques, transparent reporting standards, and structured training pathways that enable safe real-world dissemination. Future progress in this field will depend on not only technological innovation but also disciplined surgical methodology, thoughtful patient selection, and rigorous prospective evaluation to ensure durable oncologic and patient-centered outcomes.
