Samarium Diiodide-Mediated Radical Thioetherification of Alkyl Bromides with Disulfide Ethers

Abstract:
An effective samarium diiodide-mediated radical thioetherification method for alkyl bromides with disulfide ethers is reported. This method represents the first realization of radical thioetherification of alkyl bromides using a samarium diiodide-induced system. Both reaction starting materials are simple and readily available basic reagents that can be easily purchased on the market. Meanwhile, this method demonstrates excellent functional group tolerance and a broad substrate scope. Notably, this reaction system proceeds under base-free and additive-free conditions.
