Abstract:
Percutaneous device closure is fast gaining ground in the field of preterm ductus arteriosus intervention, post the introduction of specialized devices. However, percutaneous device closure in a preterm duct without fluoroscopic assistance has not been reported in India. We report the successful "bedside" Amplatzer PiccoloTM device closure of a hemodynamically significant ductus in an extremely low birth weight baby using only echocardiographic and portable X-ray assistance.
