Abstract:
Neutrophils require a considerable amount of glucose to combat Candida albicans infections. However, in tissues, glucose can be depleted due to fungal utilization. In this issue, Choi et al. report that, in glucose-deprived environments, neutrophils utilize glycogenolysis to generate sufficient energy to deploy antifungal effectors.
