Equipping NPD Practitioners for Equity: A Learning Needs Assessment and Educational Plan
Abstract:
Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Standard 9 calls for NPD practitioners to incorporate cultural humility and inclusiveness. To operationalize this standard, an educational plan including a learning needs assessment and health equity-focused workshops were implemented. Findings showed significant improvements in self-perceived competency, confidence, and application of cultural humility principles. These results underscore the need to move beyond cultural competence to cultural humility, and to support ongoing NPD development to create inclusive, equitable environments.
