Summary

A new mobile application for prison nurses in Minas Gerais, Brazil, was developed and validated. The "Autonomy & Management in Prison Nursing" app shows high reliability and content accuracy for improving nursing practice.

Background:

Prison nursing presents unique challenges to healthcare professionals.
Enhancing autonomy and management skills is crucial for effective prison nursing.
Digital tools can support nurses in complex correctional environments.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop and validate the content and semantics of the "Autonomy & Management in Prison Nursing" mobile application.
To assess the suitability of the application for nurses in Minas Gerais, Brazil's prison units.

Main Methods:

Methodological study using Contextualized Instructional Design (CID) framework.
Four CID stages: analysis, design/development, implementation, and evaluation.
Content validation by 23 expert judges and semantic validation by 51 nurses.

Main Results:

Content validation showed high agreement: Content Validity Index (CVI) of 0.962 and Cronbach's Alpha of 0.969.
Semantic validation demonstrated excellent reliability with high Cronbach's Alpha coefficients.
The application achieved satisfactory evaluation for content and semantics.

Conclusions:

The "Autonomy & Management in Prison Nursing" application is a reliable and valid tool.
The app is well-adapted to meet the needs of prison nurses.
This validated application can support professional autonomy and management in prison nursing settings.
