The species Cedrela odorata L. is characterized by having one of the precious woods with a high commercial value. It has been overexploited for timber production, which is why its population has declined. Consequently, it has been included in the Mexican Official Standard NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 on environmental protection and native species of flora and fauna as a species subject to special protection and listed in the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora. For this reason, the ex situ conservation of plant species listed in SEMARNAT's NOM 059 is of utmost importance, guaranteeing the survival of threatened and/or endangered species Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) (n.d.). In this context, the medium-term conservation method, in this case, minimum growth in vitro, is a complementary and efficient alternative to safeguard the germplasm of (Engelmann, 2011) species found in SEMARNAT's NOM 059. It manages to conserve plant material from nine months to one year in the same tube and the same culture medium.
