Adolescence is a developmental period often characterized by exploratory and risky behaviors, including substance use. Among these, the consumption of nitrous oxide (N2O) is rising sharply in the adolescent population. Misuse of this substance causes serious toxicity that can lead to neurological and hematological complications. Primary care physicians play a crucial role in identifying N2O users and comprehensively assessing each patient's situation (psychosocial history). Involving family members is recommended, while maintaining the patient's confidentiality. From a public health perspective, strict legislation, as well as primary and secondary prevention measures, are essential to address this growing problem.

Noble Gases
The elements in group 18 are noble gases (helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon). They earned the name “noble” because they were assumed to be nonreactive since they have filled valence shells. In 1962, Dr. Neil Bartlett at the University of British Columbia proved this assumption to be false.
