Evidence for knee injectables in athletes is limited and often based on non-athlete data. More sport-specific trials are needed to guide treatment for athletic knee pain and optimize return to sport.

To review current evidence on knee injectables for young athletes with pre-arthritic knee pain.
To evaluate commonly used injectables such as corticosteroids, hyaluronic acid, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

Comprehensive literature search without study design restrictions.
Focus on athlete-specific outcomes and clinical relevance for athletic populations.

Main Results:

Limited and heterogeneous evidence exists for knee injectables in athletes.
Data is often extrapolated from older, non-athletic populations.
Most injectables have weak or conditional recommendations due to lack of athlete-specific data.
