  • To examine the AI literacy of basic school teachers (BSTs) in Ghana.
  • To investigate the relationships between AI knowledge and understanding (KUAI), AI application (AAI), AI application evaluation (EAIA), and AI ethics (AIE) among BSTs.
  • To identify key factors influencing AI literacy dimensions for targeted professional development.

Main Methods:

  • Cross-sectional survey design involving 319 BSTs in Ghana.
  • Purposive sampling strategy to select participants.
  • Variance-based structural equation modelling (VB-SEM) to analyze interrelationships between AI literacy dimensions.

Conclusions:

  • AI application is a key driver for enhancing other aspects of AI literacy among BSTs.
  • Specific interventions may be needed to strengthen the influence of AI ethics and knowledge on evaluation skills.
  • Findings highlight critical areas for developing AI education and professional development programs for teachers in Ghana.
