Abstract:
The missing element of the pyriporphyrin macrocycle library was synthesized and investigated. The [3 + 1] synthesis enabled the production of 24-thia- and 24-tellura-para-pyriporphyrin. The resulting macrocycles exhibit interesting conformational dynamics, analyzed using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. Further studies revealed that they act as ligands, coordinating to metal ions, including palladium(II) and ruthenium(II). Additionally, thiophene-containing derivatives and their ruthenium complexes exhibit photoluminescence properties. The palladium complexes of both macrocycles catalyze the dealkylation of tertiary amines.

Photosystem I
Both these photosystems work in concert. An excited electron from PSII is relayed to PSI via an electron transport chain in the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast, which is comprised of the carrier molecule plastoquinone, the dual-protein cytochrome complex, and plastocyanin. As electrons move between PSII and PSI, they lose energy and must be re-energized...
