Abstract:
An X-type silyl ligand-controlled regiodivergent C-H borylation of isoquinoline has been achieved. The bidentate SiN ligand (L1) favors N-directed C-H borylation on the 1-aryl ring, while the SiNN pincer ligand (L2) facilitates undirected C-H borylation at positions 6 and 7. The t-Bu/Me group on the silyl ligand proves to be the optimal combination to promote the undirected pathway.

Diels–Alder Reaction Forming Bridged Bicyclic Products: Stereochemistry
Regioselectivity and Stereochemistry of Hydroboration
Hydroboration proceeds in a concerted fashion with the attack of borane on the π bond, giving a cyclic four-centered transition state. The –BH2 group is bonded to the less substituted carbon and –H to the more substituted carbon. The concerted nature requires the simultaneous addition of –H and –BH2 across the same face of the alkene giving syn stereochemistry.
