Abstract:
A Ni-added POM, H4(NH4)6NaK[Ni(H2O)6][{Ni0.5(H2O)1.5}2(Ge2W7O32)Ni11(μ2-OH)2(μ5-O)(H2O)7(B-α-GeW9O34)2]·12H2O (1), was successfully synthesized via a lacunary-directing synthetic strategy under hydrothermal conditions. The polyoxoanion of 1 (1a) comprises two {B-α-GeW9O34} units, a [Ni11(μ2-OH)2(μ5-O)(H2O)7]18+ ({Ni11}) cluster and a distinctive [{Ni0.5(H2O)1.5}2(Ge2W7O32)]12- ({NiGe2W7}) fragment. Notably, the {Ni11} cluster features a rare V-shaped configuration, which is one of the largest metal cores ever documented within a banana-shaped framework. The {NiGe2W7} fragment presents an unprecedented boat-shaped dimeric architecture. Additionally, 1 is an excellent heterogeneous catalyst, facilitating the Knoevenagel condensation of various aldehydes with malononitrile under mild reaction conditions.

Epoxidation with Peroxy Acids
Epoxidation of alkenes via oxidation with peroxy acids involves the conversion of a carbon–carbon double bond to an epoxide using the oxidizing agent meta-chloroperoxybenzoic acid, commonly known as MCPBA. Since the O–O bond of peroxy acids is very weak, the addition of electrophilic oxygen of peroxy acids to...
