Background and Purpose: Patient participation is fundamental to modern health care. No validated instrument exists to assess nurses' performance in enhancing patient participation within Chinese health care. This study developed and validated the Nurses' Performance for Enhancing Patient Participation Scale (NPEPPS). Methods: Content validity, construct validity, and reliability were evaluated. Construct validity was assessed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with 632 nurses. Reliability testing included 100 additional nurses. Results: The 38-item NPEPPS demonstrated four components explaining 70.86% of variance. Content validity index was .97. Confirmatory factor analysis showed good model fit. Coefficient alpha ranged from .87 to .96 (n = 100). Social desirability testing showed no significant correlation (r = .135, p = .180). Conclusions: The NPEPPS demonstrated good reliability and validity for measuring nurses' performance in enhancing patient participation in Chinese health care contexts.

Pulmonary Function Tests
Pulmonary Function Tests are crucial diagnostic tools for assessing respiratory function, particularly in patients with chronic respiratory disorders. They comprehensively evaluate lung volumes, ventilatory function, breathing mechanics, diffusion, and gas exchange. These tests help diagnose pulmonary diseases and play a significant role in monitoring disease progression, evaluating disability, and assessing response to therapy.
