1Medical University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria.
Background:
Heterogeneous local IT systems at Austrian biobanks hinder efficient publication of collection data for researchers via BBMRI-ERIC services.
Objectives:
To analyze existing biobank IT landscapes and derive requirements for automated data extraction and transfer.
Methods:
System information was collected via questionnaires, interviews, and workshops, then comparatively analyzed and validated with participating sites.
Results:
The analysis revealed wide variability in system maturity, interface automation, and standardization, alongside shared adoption of FAIR principles and ongoing modernization.
Conclusion:
The findings provide the analytical basis for specifying a National Node Data Communication Platform that supports automated data exchange across BBMRI.at partner biobanks.
