Abstract:
Early recognition of clinically-discordant mycobacterial cultures is essential to prevent unnecessary diagnostic procedures and treatments. Here, we show that whole genome sequencing was useful in identifying nontuberculous mycobacteria laboratory cross-contamination events. WGS proved to be useful in facilitating rapid clinical decision making, preventing erroneous reporting and thus clinical impact.
