Given the shortage of kidney transplants from deceased donors, living donation has emerged as a key pathway to transplantation. However, donor-recipient incompatibilities, particularly ABO incompatibility, pose a significant immunological barrier. Desensitization protocols, which remove the antibodies responsible for these incompatibilities, are an increasingly common method used to address this issue. Rigorous organization of these pre-transplant protocols is necessary to optimize the transplant, and nurse coordinators are the cornerstone of this process.
