FDG PET/CT in a Case of Post-Hysterectomy Adnexal Torsion

Abstract:
A 33-year-old woman, who underwent right salpingo-oophorectomy with total hysterectomy for right ovarian yolk sac tumor 28 months ago, was referred for FDG PET/CT to evaluate possible left ovarian metastasis detected on CT. FDG PET/CT showed an irregular solid mass with peripheral activity and central photonpenic area in the left pelvis. The mass showed ring-like activity on the axial plane and tennis racket-like activity on the oblique coronal plane. Left adnexal metastasis with central necrosis was suspected. Left salpingo-oophorectomy revealed adnexal torsion with necrosis, hemorrhage, and inflammatory cell infiltration, and no malignancy.
