None:
An edentulous patient presented for fabrication of new complete dentures. After completion of treatment, he disclosed his participation in professional boxing, which required the mandatory use of a mouthguard. As a documented technique for the fabrication of sports mouthguards for completely edentulous athletes was not found, a custom protocol was developed to meet his functional, protective, and regulatory needs. This clinical report describes the step-by-step technique and clinical rationale for creating a custom mouthguard by duplicating maxillary and mandibular complete dentures to provide stability, retention, and adequate orofacial protection.
