Abdominal fat graft migration into bulbar subconjunctival space after midface fat transfer: a case report

A 69-year-old woman presented with a localized bulbar conjunctival lesion with associated inflammation. The lesion and inflammation were refractory to topical corticosteroid therapy. Her history was significant for cosmetic lower eyelid blepharoplasty with abdominal fat transfer to the midface. Surgical excision and histopathologic analysis revealed a foreign body-type granulomatous inflammatory reaction to lipid material, consistent with migrated corporal fat. This case outlines a rare complication of fat transfer to the periocular region.
