Abstract:
High-density lipoprotein (HDL) has been regarded as a protective factor for cardiovascular health,with cholesterol transport-promoting,anti-inflammatory,and antioxidant effects,among others.However,recent studies have shown that HDL can undergo quantitative,structural,and functional abnormalities during the occurrence and progression of cardiovascular diseases.These abnormalities of HDL may promote the development of cardiovascular diseases by influencing cholesterol metabolism,inflammatory responses,oxidative stress,and endothelial function,among other pathways.This article summarizes the biological characteristics of abnormal HDL,its role in cardiovascular diseases,and potential underlying mechanisms,aiming to provide a theoretical foundation and clinical guidance for future research and to advance the exploration of new strategies for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
