We have designed and synthesized 2,7,12,17-tetra(p-tert-butylphenyl)dinaphthoporphycene. It is the first aryl analogue of β,β'-fused porphycene. The freebase porphycene exhibited a red shift in absorption spectra. The macrocycle possesses more elongated core compared to its alkyl analogues. Our complexation studies so far succeeded with B(III)-ion, which led to the formation of a cisoid-B2OF2 complex.
