Herein, the formation of ultrathin AuPt nanowires (NWs) via heterogeneous doping was systematically explored. AuPt NWs with various compositions were synthesized by varying the Pt precursor concentration. The AuPt NWs would bend as the Pt content reached a certain threshold, and the alloying kinetics also affected the degree of bending. The AuPt6.6 NWs with a moderate amount of Pt exhibited the optimum surface electronic structure and morphology, achieving a mass activity of approximately 3.28 A mgPt-1 and enhanced stability in electrocatalytic ethanol oxiation.
