Mothers' experiences of implementing a normal labor and delivery management program based on evidence-based clinical

Background:
Natural childbirth, as a significant and impatful experience in a woman's life, can have substantial positive or negative effects on her physical and psychological well-being. Therefore, evidence-based care, which includes active labor management programs and the reduction of unnecessary medical interventions, has been recognized as an effective approach to enhance the positive experience of natural childbirth and reduce the need for cesarean sections. Therefore, this study aimed to explain mothers' experiences of implementing a normal labor and delivery management program based on evidence-based clinical practice in Iran.
Materials And Methods:
This qualitative study was conducted in 2024 on 16 primiparous mothers who had experience with the normal labor and delivery management program based on evidence-based clinical practice. Women were selected through purposive sampling at Sina Hospital in Ahvaz, Iran.
Results:
After analyzing the data, the mother's experiences were categorized into three main categories: a sense of control, the pleasantness of the childbirth process, and acceptance of natural childbirth.
Conclusion:
The implementation of evidence-based programs focusing on woman-centered care has the potential to improve the quality of childbirth care in Iran and enhance maternal satisfaction. This approach promotes a sense of security and comfort for women during labor, while empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
