Abstract:
Three sustainable and multifunctional C2-symmetric chiral pseudopeptidic biomaterials (L/D-1-3) were synthesized and fully characterized. The chirality was confirmed by circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, and a pronounced dependence of self-assembly on stereochemistry was observed between the L- and D-forms. Furthermore, compounds 1-3 acted as efficient Cu(II) ion sensors, exhibiting a turn-off response in aqueous-organic media under physiological conditions. Interaction with Cu(II) ions also triggered a morphological transition of the nanostructures into rounded assemblies, highlighting their potential as multifunctional chiral biomaterials.
