Abstract:
In this work, benzo-fused 4,5-dihydroazuleno[2,1,8-ija]azulenes were expanded through longitudinal ring fusion and transverse incorporation of dithiafulvene donor units. The resulting non-benzenoid π-systems exhibit markedly altered optical and electrochemical properties, including helicene-like characteristics and reversible multi-redox behaviour.
