Justification There is a lack of studies on the physical wear and mental exhaustion experienced by community pharmacists (CPs) in the workplace, so we consider it necessary to assess its relevance. Objective To analyze the prevalence and significance of occupational burnout syndrome in community pharmacies in Galicia, its risk factors, and its association with work-related and demographic variables. Methods Design: Cross-sectional observational study conducted from September to December 2025. Approved by the Galicia Research Ethics Committee (CEIC Galicia). Subjects: Pharmacists practicing in community pharmacies. Sample size: For a precision of 10.0% in estimating a proportion, assuming a prevalence of 50.0% and a total population size of 3,984, it will be necessary to include 94 participants in the study. Variables: Proportion of CPs affected by burnout syndrome and mean level of affectation according to the total score of the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS). Scores for the sections on considerations and expectations regarding professional practice: frequency (%). Procedure: An online questionnaire was created using Microsoft Forms®. The sample was stratified by province and place of practice according to the classification established by the Xunta de Galicia into three population zone types: densely populated, intermediate, and sparsely populated. Pharmacies will be contacted by phone to offer one pharmacist the opportunity to participate in the study. If they agree, a link to the form and instructions will be sent to their email. Applicability The aim is to establish a starting point to raise awareness and facilitate the approach to burnout syndrome among CPs. This will make it possible to develop prevention and coping strategies.
