Abstract:
Analytical platforms capable of rapid detection of foodborne pathogens with high sensitivity and localized specificity are indispensable not only for quality control protocols in the food industry but also broader applications in clinical diagnostics, public health surveillance, and environmental monitoring. Here, we engineered a novel fluorescently tagged magnetic nanoplatform for highly sensitive and specific detection of foodborne pathogens by leveraging an aptamer-functionalized covalent organic framework (COF) and integrating it with the rapid separation capabilities of magnetic nanoparticles to achieve significant signal amplification and target enrichment. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes were detected within 60 min after sample pretreatment with detection limits of 4 and 6 CFU/mL, respectively. Spiked recovery experiments in real food samples showed remarkable recovery (91.9%-106%), confirming potential for practical applications. Therefore, this work provides a novel and efficient COF-driven platform for the rapid detection of foodborne pathogens.
