Knee dislocation associated with patellar tendon rupture: case report and literature review

Knee dislocations and multiligament knee injuries represent a significant clinical and surgical challenge, particularly when associated with patellar tendon rupture, a rare combination with a high functional impact that may initially go unrecognized. Management of these injuries requires meticulous planning to restore anatomy, joint stability, and extensor mechanism function in order to optimize long-term functional outcomes. We report the case of a patient who sustained a knee dislocation associated with patellar tendon rupture, which was surgically managed using a two-stage approach. Current evidence in the literature is limited to case reports and small case series; therefore, no specific classification system or standardized management guidelines are currently available.
