Background:
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) loaded with pesticides have unique porous structure and excellent functional properties, which can solve lower utilization rate and pesticide residues of chemical pesticides.
Results:
ZnMOF@SiO2 loaded with Fluopyram (Flu) was prepared for the first time. The nanocomposite ZnMOF@SiO2@Flu was observed to be spherical under SEM, with a loading rate of (28.38 ± 0.77) %, and a zeta potential of -37.35 mV, and the thermal stability was 61.47% higher than that of Flu. It had pH-responsive release function with a best release rate of 75.54% at pH 6.5 within 96 h, and the release model conformed to Ritger-Peppas equation. The LC50 value of ZnMOF@SiO2@Flu treatment (72 h) against Meloidogyne incognita was 8.384 μg/mL, which was about 1.7 times that of Flu treatment. Importantly, the control effect of it against root-knot nematode in a pot experiment reached up to 94.85% at a concentration of 200 μg/mL, which was significantly stronger than that of Flu, due to an excellent pH response release function of ZnMOF@SiO2@Flu. Therefore, the amount of Flu applied was significantly reduced by using this controlled release system. Moreover, this nanocomposite promoted seed germination and plant growth, exhibited excellent biocompatibility with non-target soil invertebrate (Eisenia fetida), and positively reshaped the rhizosphere microbial community structure.
Conclusion:
These findings suggest that the highly eco-friendly ZnMOF@SiO2@Flu nanocomposite has great potential in the prevention and control of M. incognita. © 2026 Society of Chemical Industry.
