Pulsed wave propagation in temporally discontinuous media is described with the aid of standard state-variable theory of piecewise time-invariant systems. A novel recursive analytical procedure for analyzing the pulsed wave propagation in temporally discontinuous media is introduced. An illustrative analytical description is provided for (1+1)-D space-time waves along an equivalent transmission line whose electromagnetic parameters change abruptly, thus representing a temporally layered slab.
